CHEERLEADING

Cheerleading is a team sport that combines elements of tumbling in the acrobatic part on the ground with static or dynamic aerial evolutions (by the flyers) in the pyramids and group stunts; everything must be connected, inserted and harmonized in a dynamic choreography which constitutes the essential part of the structure of the exercise. The potential of a team is determined above all by the harmony in the execution of the proposed difficulties, and the value of the performance is increased by the safety and energy expressed by the athletes who perform the routine on the platform.

CHEERDANCE AND PERFORMANCE CHEER

Cheerdance is divided into two distinct disciplines, Dance and Performance Cheer, more oriented towards dance, but with different and precise rules and technical elements. In the routines a preponderance of the ballad part is required, with the possible inclusion of elements of acrobatics on the ground, collaborations and lifts, but above all precision, synchronization of the elements of difficulty presented by the members of the team (if it is a team) or of the duo (if it is a double). Both disciplines are divided into three different styles in which the use of poms may be required. Accurate dance technique for the lower limbs, very precise lines of the arms, expressiveness, energy and synchrony between the movements and the music are the peculiarities that characterize the routines.

PARACHEER

ParaCheer, known as Adaptive Abilities until confirmation from the Paralympic committee, is part of the new group of inclusive cheerleading divisions available. Adaptive Abilities Cheerleading incorporates most of the elements of a current cheerleading routine – jumps, dance, stunts and tumbling (this currently excludes Basket and Sponge Tosses). Teams can be either ‘Traditional’ meaning all athletes on the team have a disability, or ‘Unified’ meaning that there is a mix of disabled and non-disabled athletes working together.
